- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 and ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Stir to dissolve. Sprinkle yeast over the surface and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes, until foamy.
Add olive oil, flour, and salt to the bowl. Stir with a wooden spoon until a shaggy dough forms.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, add a small amount of flour as needed.
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl. Cover with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap and allow it to rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats.
Punch down the dough and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll out into your desired shape and thickness.
Transfer the dough to a parchment-lined baking sheet or preheated pizza stone. Add sauce, cheese, and your favorite toppings.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
Remove from the oven, let cool for a minute or two, then slice and serve.
