- 1 and ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 and ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- ⅓ cup light brown sugar
- ⅓ cup unsalted butter melted
- ¼ cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- ¾ cup whole milk
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- For the cinnamon sugar coating:
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup unsalted butter melted
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 12-cup muffin tin or line it with paper liners.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, brown sugar, melted butter, vegetable oil, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring just until combined. Do not overmix.
Divide the batter evenly among the 12 muffin cups, filling them about three-quarters full.
Bake for 17 to 19 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let the muffins cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
While the muffins are still warm, mix ½ cup granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon in a small bowl.
Brush each muffin with melted butter, then roll or dip in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat completely.
Serve warm or at room temperature.
